Feral Brewery have again been named WA’s Best Brewery at the 2017 Perth Royal Beer Awards.
The Swan Valley staple took home multiple acknowledgements including their second consecutive Sail and Anchor Trophy for Best WA Brewery, as well as The Hopco Trophy for Best Commercial Brewery.
The winners were announced on Friday June 30, as WA’s beer industry gathered for the Royal Agricultural Society of WA’s 2017 Perth Royal Beer Awards. This was the eleventh time the who’s who of the WA beer industry has gathered to present WA’s most prestigious awards celebrating an Australian tradition, great beer and those who make it.
Over 600 entrants were received in 2017. Judging is conducted by blind tasting, with judges having no access to knowledge of breweries beforehand.
Feral smashed the awards, taking out five trophies in total. Relative newcomers Brewhouse from Margaret River also took out three trophies, cementing their place in the WA Brewing scene.
The event was opened by RASWA President, Paul Carter recognising the industry’s contribution to the national economy. He said the industry generates “between four and five billion dollars annually” – proving that craft beer in WA is stronger than ever.
